When comparing a second year Callaway to a second year Moore…Callaway was definitely better. Callaway has flashed significantly the last two years, much more than Moore in his first two years. He made a lot of plays last year…and was easily our best WR in my opinion, as much as I like Harris, he can’t stay healthy at WR.
The problem Callaway had was that he isn’t a #1 WR, and was all the Saints had at WR. Do you know how much harder it is to separate against #1 NFL CBs versus slot CBs? Not to mention that the Saints passing offense was notoriously low volume, especially with Winston who only completely 15 passes a game. Then you have arguably the worst QB room in the NFL after Winston goes down. People are sore that Callaway didn’t live up fantasy God billing as a 2nd year UDFA…which is actually pathetic.
He’s a really good player, and as a #3 WR he’ll be really good. Not many guys are #1 WRs in this league, but that’s fine. He’s also a standout special teamer. I’m happy he’s a Saint and I still think that his better days are ahead now that he won’t get as much attention.
