The 2022 Saints undrafted free agent class

Saints sign Notre Dame LB Isaiah Pryor and invite Boston College safety Mike Palmer.

I’m guessing that all of these “signings” are essentially invites to minicamp other than the ones that got big guaranteed money like Rashid Shaheed and Smoke Monday.

I think the Saints are holding a couple of spots for veteran free agents, which means they only have ten or so spots for UDFAs.

I’ve always wondered why the Saints or another team doesn’t just outbid all of the other teams for the ten or so UDFAs they want the most. With how many UDFAs wind up making the roster and becoming longterm contributors, it would seem like a wise investment and a drop in the bucket in terms of dead money on the cap.
It seems like they did target the players they felt could make the roster on the bottom of the depth chart this year. Smith, Smoke and Shaheed look to be special teams contributes as well as developmental prospects for the respective units.
