What do we do with Trequan Smith?

Well, obviously they signed him before we got Olave and Landry. So, it’s kinda clear that he was only a fall back-back-option😆. The better question is……if he is so good, then why draft Olave and then sign another WR in Landry? Another question….if he is so good, then why let him attempt to test Free Agency??? If you had a guy who could play every WR position /knows the playbook, great blocker/etc….then why is he not a high priority? Why let him go out an seek other opportunities? Seriously, 4 years with us, and the best anyone can say is that he’s a great blocker. He should be listed as a WB (Wide Blocker) then. Just drop the Receiver part bc he didn’t do much of that in 4 years. Idk, maybe he can get on the field and sneak pass the defenses this year, when our other receivers are being guarded or something. That happens to him occasionally. Maybe it can happen more often now that we have a good group of WRs. I know, that’s pretty harsh, but it’s just how I feel. He’s probably an amazing dude and I honestly wanted him to be what we needed, but after 4 years, I can’t say that I have any faith in his play.
Now see, we already found a level of agreement. We both basically said the same thing, that with future moves uncertain, signing TQS would serve as a back up plan/insurance policy.

But you ain’t gonna get much pushback in us drafting Olave n signing Jarvis. Das because last year, we were dead LAST in passing O! Havn 4 different starters at QB didn’t help. But the biggest complaint about our ALL of our WRs was their inability to get separation! So we needed a major upgrade at WR. So the SAINTS team AND fans wanted to see us take a WR in da 1st rd! The Saints took it a step further by moving up to draft Olave. Jarvis Landry ain’t the biggest r fastest, but I’m sure lotsa teams would love to him. Not only did we sign him, we got a “hometown discount” too!

I AGREE that after 4 yrs, TQS has been a disappointment. I AGREE dat some of that has been on HIM! Not a be all, end all, but I thought the USA Today article offered some “reasoning” behind his lack of production as a pro
so far too.

For the first time in his career as a Saint, I think TQS is gonna have to FIGHT for his job. But IF he’s healthy, I tellin ya, don’t be surprised if he makes the 53 n plays well this season.

But we’ll see
