Shooter incident at elementary school in Uvalde, Texas - 19 children and 2 adults dead

I have long advocated for this.

Having served in the US Army and having operated the M15, and seeing exactly what it does, outside of gun collectors, there is no legitimate reason, IMO, to own an assault style rifle prior to the age of 30 or so.

But ill start at making it impossible for an 18 year old to purchase and own.
Its not just that...there are different variations of the AR that can shoot way more potent calibers of ammo than the 5.56. You have the 308/7.62 Nato, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf and others...and I think its criminal to allow an 18 year old to buy something that can literally shoot someone's head off. The seriously effed up part is that 18 year olds are blocked from buying handguns, but can buy a way more potent rifle...what kind of sense does this make...who is the asshat that lobbied for that stipulation.

TBH, the pics they showed looked like AR-10s (.308) to me....I might be wrong, but still, why in the hell are kids allowed to buy something that can shoot this legally? What is wrong with this GD place:
