We've had Beren and Luthien. Turin Turambar, and his forbear Hurin and Huor.
Yes, Numenor is ascendant, and Man is starting to flex his power. But it was all built on incredible heroism and sacrifice.
BTW.... I'd love to see an adaptation of Beren and Luthien.
