Texas, the new Florida

It’s weird when you really think about it
I don’t feel like I’ve ever lived in Louisiana, even though I’ve lived in New Orleans off and on for 30+ years
Same with NYC
but when I lived in Greensboro, I’m more inclined to say I lived in North Carolina (and not just bc the state name is more notable)
and certainly when I lived in Denton, it was Texas state identity that mattered most - way way more than anywhere else I’d lived or even visited
Interesting you say this. I have recently been contemplating moving. My boss mentioned that the California residency requirement for my team will sort of disappear once we hit our next milestone and we can live wherever. Made me think that maybe I'd like to go shack up in some other state.

When I went to Miami last month, I'm like "I kinda like it here. Could I actually live in Miami even though the rest of Florida is as stupid as it gets?" I dunno. It's really just the diversity and the incredible beaches. I'm not totally sold because of hurricanes and Floriduh dumbness. I like SD but it's always kinda chilly here, the ocean is really cold and it is seriously lacking diversity.
