BS penalty. Int. grounding on Jameis.

I don't think there is any precedent for spiking the ball to be intentional grounding, even though the clock was stopped. There is precedent for grounding if you delay spiking (I.e. you're trying to force the defense to do something instead of immediately spiking the ball). However, the rule is designed around the idea that you are trying to avoid being hit by a defender and it's clear Jameis was not in danger of being hit in that situation. If I were a member of the Saints, I would ask the NFL for an official ruling on this because they might have goofed this up. It's "penalty" enough to lose the down from a wasted spike. Ultimately, it was bad situational awareness by our coaches and QB that this happened, though.

I will also say that I think we showed poor situational football awareness to spike the ball on 3rd and 4, too. We had enough time to run a real play against the sidelines to possibly get some more yards or to at least waste more clock before the field goal attempt. The combination of these two errors on the final drive really needs to get cleaned up.
