Yeah, that makes sense. He did make a reference to the broader state of TV, which isn't entirely wrong, but I don't think it's terrible either.

I do think the industry has been somewhat victimized by it's own successes and they're trying hard to repeat those formulas rather than trying anything truly original, if not groundbreaking. I think the Star Wars movies have been more miss than hit, but I also think they've done reasonably well with the spinoff series like Mando, Obi-Wan and now Andor. It's a mixed bag.

As for MCU, there's a lot I like about their model. I do think they've hurt themselves by expanding too much too fast. I mean, I love a lot of content, and I've watched them all, but I do this the overall quality has been affected by the sheer amount of work that needs to go into all of those productions. Maybe paring back the number and focusing on fewer headline shows would be better. The hero genre is oversaturated right now, and while MCU is my preferred go-to, I still like to make time for DC stuff if it's good.

I'm currently watching Pennyworth and it's a really good show. Peacemaker was excellent, The Boys is a ton of fun, Jack Ryan and Reacher were both solid shows by Amazon. So there's still good stuff to be had.
