The required term is 12 months but you lose 3 months interest if cash prior to 5 years. Basically, I look at it as a 15mo hold to get the return.

Also, the Nov rate is projected to 6.48% but nothing official yet. Buying in Oct locks in a 8% return for the first 12 months.
