They were. Meanstreak was much more than I expected with good musicians and an excellent singer. I had read somewhere that they were a trash band and that was totally bot true. Progressive classic metal I'd say.
Petrucci, Portnoy, and Larue played like they'd been together for years instead of months. Professionals.

Well Larue was the bassist on all of Petrucci's solo albums so yes, they've been together for years and not months. LaRue plays on all the G3 concerts and Petrucci has done multiple of those. Also, practically all of Dream Theater married Meanstreak.
