It's all those Lubbock transplants. ;)

What's funny is you might be on to something there. Lubbock is a dry city and you have to drive outside of the city limits to get alcohol, and these folks from Lubbock are suddenly able to get their stuff at any corner store. It is still weird for me to go back and not see the beer coolers in stores anywhere. Sheeesh.....

I read a long time ago that per capita population Lubbock has a higher concentration of alcoholism than any other place in Texas. Wonder why......

I'd imagine Austin is on that list based on the UT students alone.
