With that said, I still contend that Peter Jackson’s trilogy is the best thing to ever hit a screen, period and I reject any arguments to the contrary. :mad: I watched it this past weekend, and 18-20 years later, it hasn’t lost a bit of luster. I’ve watched these movies too many times to name and they’re still amazing.

i will reiterate that i don't think RoP was uber amazing (the Numenor plot was junk - but beginning and end episodes were mostly good to great)
but i think you highlight a struggle - people love HotD:
a) bc great writing and acting, but
b) bc it was MUCH better than the last few seasons of GoT
Andor is a huge critical success bc great writing and acting but also bc it's scrating an itch (adult stories) than many SW fans have been clamoring for

LotR films are universally loved - the books are fetishized - remaking The Hobbit would have been the only thing someone could have done without huge blowback
