Taysom's Future

“I texted Mickey yesterday — he’s my closest friend — and I said, ‘Hey, if you’re uncomfortable with that $10 million salary, let me know in a year or two, and I’ll take it off your hands.,’ ” Payton told Colin Cowherd, per YouTube video.

Admittedly, Payton likely said this in a more tongue-in-cheek fashion, but the scenario isn’t that unrealistic. Hill signed a four-year, $40 million contract in 2021 that began in the 2022-23 season. But New Orleans has a potential out after the 2023-24 season, according to Spotrac, and in the following three years, Hill will not receive guaranteed money, according to Over The Cap.

SP was dead serious when he made that comment. Look, everyone on here knows that I’m in the Top 3 in the biggest Taysom fanboys group. We have a “one of a kind” player on our team. This dude just wants to be out there making plays. He leaves it all out there and he is a prime example of what a team player is. How in the world are we not utilizing this dude at nausea is beyond me? If I were a first time HC, who is stinking up the joint, I would have Taysom out there for 80% of the snaps minimum. I wouldn’t even care where he’s lining up. Just get the guy out there. One day DA will wake up, with no more chances of being a HC, and he will look back at the decisions he made, that caused his failures. One of which will be not using one of his greatest assets. SP isn’t stupid. He knows that even if TH7 gets you 1 or 2 much needed first downs, that could be the difference of a ball game. Football is a game of inches. That statement rings true more often than not. Every third down I’d encounter, he would be out there in the huddle…..I’d take my chances with Taysom.
