Ian Rapoport: Sean may not have a team lined up.

Payton has four problems if he wants to coach in 2023 or 2024:

1. He wants to go to a good team. Good teams normally are not looking for a new coach. That narrows the field.

2. He wants a huge contract. Not every team is going to give him that contract. That narrows the field

3. He wants power in the organization over personnel decisions. Not every team is going to give him the authority he wants. That narrows the field.

4. The team he goes to will have to give the Saints draft compensation. Not every team is willing to give up much in draft compensation. That narrows the field.

In short, he wants a great job and situation. But a team willing to give Payton the power and money he wants, and give up draft compensation, is looking for a miracle-worker because it is a lousy team.

Yep. I've seen KC come up multiple times but it doesn't make sense from their perspective. Chargers don't either when you consider their owner won't pay Payton what he wants to be paid.

His dream job of a ready made winner, organizational control, and big payday doesn't exist. Probably never will.
