This is why when people say Payton is not worth a top 5 overall pick, I disagreed. He's a proven, well respected commodity amongst the players and immediately turns whatever team he signs with into a destination franchise. I would not be surprised at all if all the teams who passed on Payton are looking for another head coach in 2-3 years.

Think about trades we have seen from teams trying to get into the top 3 in the past. It has required MAJOR compensation just to go from like 10 to 3, usually a future first round pick and then some.

If SP is reasonably worth a mid first round pick, then using him to get pick 3 likely requires us to throw in a sweetener.

If it was announced tonight that we are trading SP and next year’s first for pick 3, I honestly would not be upset. I don’t think it is quite understood how high those top 3 picks are valued.
