Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits)

The thing that still baffled me is the fact that the play calling was very predictable and questionable. Dalton was not a Brees. (Never was). But he was serviceable. In some games, Dalton had some good drives that got us some scores. But why wasn't those drives and calls replicated throughout the rest of the game. For example.....2nd and short. Run. Taysom in....Taysom is running. It is rare that we go play actions. It is rare that Taysom got a chance to throw. I understand Dalton isn't a play maker but he was good enough to run a decent offense. He was once a franchise quarterback. Pete doesn't have his safety net anymore to bail him out. He is playing scared for some reason.

Serviceable is a good description, limited is another that applies. I think when you're at best serviceable and limited combined with everything else, then you get what we got on offense. The offense that PC is used to calling has a X, there's not getting around that. The 2022 team didn't have one once MT went down. They have 1 dynamic playmaker in Shaheed, 1 smooth playmaker in Olave (he needs to get better with contact both defenders and ground), 1 big receiving TE who is still developing in JJ, the joker in Taysom and the Paul Pierce of running backs in AK. That's it. Even if we ran it back with Dalton, adding a X and better skillsets at RB with a few less injuries and the team offense would be better. Add Carr with a completed offense (X, stretch TE,better RBs and health) and that is something to have some tempered excitement about. If Carr was only here 5 healthy seasons, he'd slot in as #2 All-Time in Saints history as he would pass everyone else in yards, TDs and probably even wins or at least be within a win or two of Hebert.
