Franchise doesn't necessarily mean elite. He was once a good quarterback for the Bengals. Took them to the playoffs and had some decent season. But he is a vet. Fitzpatrick never took any teams to the playoffs but he was serviceable. I just don't understand why the play callings seemed to cater to a rookie behind center.

Because that's how SP played it in Brees' final couple of years, and that approach seemed to carry over post-Brees.
