The question I do have in general is whether we use that 29th or even the 40th on Hooker (assuming the scouts see him as a potential starter down the road) if we have already signed Carr to a sizeable contract! I am at this point leaning to not being afraid to use that premium pick to further deepen the QB room on the team where Hooker would not be pressured to starting early in his career.

If we sign Carr, not sure Hooker is the right fit for that situation and the best use of one of the high picks. The only reason to bring Carr in, for what he's going to cost, is if the team believes he's their QB for at least the next 4-5 years. Hooker will be 25 at the time of the draft and could conceivably be pushing 30 before the team tried to transition to him.

If the team gets Carr, I think it would make more sense to target a QB later in the draft as a developmental backup / insurance policy. If the team doesn't sign Carr, then I think Hooker is a player that is really intriguing.
