Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits)

That point of view makes sense. But in reality that plan would at a minimum take 5 years. We can’t draft a QB this year. And we don’t have enough to trade up even if we include 40. So a drafted Qb won’t happen until 2024. By then we’d be having to replace all of our great defensive vets. We’d need two DE’s at least one Dt assuming we draft one this year. Mathieu would need replacing as well as Maye. We’d need at least one more great Lb. At Cb we have youth, so we could be ok. I’m not sure how our Oline will be in two years, but I’ll just say it’s going to be OK. The skill positions would also need refreshing. So we’re looking at a 4-5 year plan to totally flip the roster with youth and no old vets eating dead cap. And that is the best case scenerio, what if the QB we draft in 2024, doesn’t pan out. Then you have to burn at least another year. So be prepared not to want to watch Saints football for half of a decade if we go that route.
I thought this was a good segment from AFR, regarding the QB situation. The Jalen Hurts part really hammered the point home for me, about getting a QB on a rookie deal, and resetting. As opposed to overpaying for mediocrity.
