Athleticism over Talent

Like anything people will gravitate to anything pretty. I will admit and had posted in another thread that I was not a fan of Richardson. I watched him in college and wasn't impressed with some of his throws. In tight coverages and throws necessary to be an nfl quarterback, he wasn't that good. In the NFL guys will not be wide open often as it is in college.

But watching him throws in the combine, he impressed me. His touch on the deep throws was outstanding. He has full body control when throwing. He looks like a freak of player. He is not huge but looks like a freak. Cam Newton and Josh Allen are big but not like Richardson. So I see how his stock went up from yesterday. I expect him to be drafted top 10 now.

But I agree with your point. I am more interested in getting guys who I preceive as NFL ready who can make the necessary throws to be successful in the NFL. Athletic ability is great to have and a quarterback now must have some of it. But I am looking for the total package. I am guilty of looking at throws at the combine and pro days and get excited about it but I like to see more. Couple of years ago I really was impressed with Zach Wilson at his combine and pro day and really thought he was going to be better than Trevor Lawrence. Man I was wrong.
You can take the NBA 3 point competition as an example. You can be the best 3 pointer and win every year. But doesn't make you a good NBA player.

Now after yesterday, I will be not as mad if we draft him. I still would not, but I won't be upset by it if we do.
