I think that sounds smarter on paper, at least. But, I've just never seen it work out anywhere. Maybe SF?
SF is a great example of it, and it’s more of a money ball approach, which given our roster situation (older and underperforming), it makes sense.

Don’t put all your eggs in the quarterback basket. Pay mid tier money for a mid tier quarterback, draft smart, have every spot managed by a slightly above average to good/great player.
