The Saints defense the last 3 seasons are better than in 2009 except take aways and punishing the QB. Of course they got slapped with bounty gate for the later but I think that was a load of BS. The defense now is certainly better than most of the defenses Brees had at his disposal and better than any defense that Derek Carr has had around him (By a long shot) I see a few needs mainly on the Oline and DT positions but I have no doubt those will be addressed before the season starts. Folks act like the Saints are completely hobbled but that was mainly the injuries that they have had more than their share of the last two seasons. Let's hope for a bit of luck in that area this time around. We are due.

Back in 2009 the only way we were able to pressure the Qb was via blitz. Now we’re easily getting pressure with 4.

Injury: When Lattimore was out we lost. Plain and simple. You have to have your best players available at all times. “The best ability …… right.”

I truly believe that the defense vibes off of the offense to some extent. That could explain why our d finished strong. A defense is more likely to get a critical three and out if they are in the game. If they are down by 30 that same D is probably not too motivated to give it their best. Of course there are some outliers where the defense was the identity of the team, like the Ray Lewis Ravens D and Seattles Legion of Boom. Insert any d that has its own nickname Ie “dome patrol“ and they’ll fit the outlier definition.
