To be fair the list of failed QBs is much longer than the list of successful QBs. I think what has been shown is that you can be a successful QB as either a pocket passer or as a mobile QB. Pocket passers need to process fast and be accurate. Running QBs need to have elite escapability, be very athletic and have fair accuracy. Pocket passers will have much longer careers, but they usually take longer to develop, and that means they’ll also cost a lot more over their careers. Running QBs may get to their 2nd contract and probably start declining towards the end of their 2nd contract, but they don’t take as long to develop. A team could use the strategy of picking mobile QBs and only keeping them through their 1st contract. There is more than 1 way to win.
