I'm not sure, in fact, I'm more then willing to believe that Young's original USFL contract with the owners of the L.A. Express likely was voided either after the USFL folded operations in early 1986, or shortly afterwards, when the Buccaneers picked him up as an NFL FA and he played there for one season. Crazy, ironic thing about Young deciding to play in the USFL in the 1984 season was that if he hadn't jumped to the new, spring league, he wouldve been picked by Bengals, not Boomer Easiason. Imagine Steve Young developing into a Pro-Bowl QB throwing to guys like Chris Collinsworth, James Brooks, Eddie Jones, or Isaac Curtis (if he hadn't already retired by the 1984 season).
