This is A Great Draft for the Saints - all 7 picks

My answer to that question:

We had real need at DL both interior and Edge. It was the weakest link on an otherwise great defense, and we are obviously rebuilding it this year. Getting Bresee and Foskey are both great picks for that need. It is exciting not just in addressing a need, but you can see that they both have a chance to have a rotational impact THIS year.

Then we pick up Kendre Miller who has a lot of potential to be a Pierre Thomas type, good balance, great vision, and a good enough to be respected as a runner enough to allow him in the screen game to make a real big impact. Right now our RB position is in a weird place. I LOVE Jamaal Williams, but he is at his best in tandem with someone else. Obviously that should be Kamara this year, but having a back like Miller gives me hope that he can have a more immediate impact until Kamara is back on the team. He makes the RB group better, which is maybe the BIGGEST need on the offense.

Then we grab an athletic, versatile OLineman who has the ability to provide depth THIS year and eventually make his way into a starting position for the long term. Every time you have that potential, the pick should generate some enthusiasm.

Drafting one of the best Tier 2 QBs with a ton of comparables to our GOAT Brees is an exciting project that could end up just being a backup, but maybe so much more, and with Carr we won't have to rush any expectations on him.

I don't have a ton of insight on Howden, but drafting a Safety is always something I will be excited about, even if it is a project or depth guy at best.

Lastly, trading Troutman (whom, like many others, have grown very frustrated with) and picking up a WR prospect with significant potential beyond where he was picked in AT Perry, feels awesome from my perspective. I really love Perry as a potential depth WR and someone who can catch balls this year. He has the size and skill set to be a fair NFL starter, what's not to love about picking that up in the 6th!

At the end of the day, this draft addressed many of our needs, it didn't feel like we reached or bet the future on picks today, and I fully expect lots of production out of this class as early as this season. To me that is a draft worth being very excited about.
First paragraph I agree with for sure. Second paragraph, yes we needed a RB badly but there were at least two better ones on the table. Everything after that I think is a good prospective guess, but it’s questionable enough to make me not instantly jump up and down on the table over
