Another drummer appreciation thread

If you ask any of those drummers who their biggest influence was they would probably say Buddy Rich.....

John Bonham is like the Eric Clapton of drummers to me, not the mind blowing technical ability but the style that influenced countless musicians.....

Neil Peart should be in any top 5......he was incredible.....

Buddy Rich had speed, which I like.

Dave Grohl admits, he is a basic drummer, who can't read music, who ripped off disco bands to create Nevermind. lol I seen an interview, where he says, John Bonham is the greatest rock drummer.

“If you listen to [Nirvana’s epic 1991 album] Nevermind… I pulled so much stuff from the Gap Band and Cameo and [Chic’s] Tony Thompson on every one of those songs,” Grohl says as the instantly recognizable opening guitar riff of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” wells up in the background. And, just before the elephant marauding drums kick in, Grohl starts slapping his thighs in time, saying, “all that [mines drumming]… that’s old disco!”

Grohl's take on Neil Peart....

":Grohl continued, “I still vividly remember my first listen of 2112 when I was young. It was the first time I really listened to a drummer. And since that day, music has never been the same. His power, precision, and composition was incomparable. He was called ‘The Professor’ for a reason: We all learned from him.”"
