I wouldn't say they're setting the rules. Maybe at a statewide level in some states, but I wouldn't say that's the case nationwide. I do think the majority of the population should do more, but the political climate being as dysfunctional as it is now makes that a tall order.

You wouldn't? If not, then you are really not paying attention here.....the majority of the population in the US want common sense gun laws, what's preventing it are the lawmakers who are beholden to the NRA.....
