Balogun is becoming, if he isn’t already, a world class finisher. That’s as much the giant get he was as the position we’ve been lacking for, ever. The wingers just need to figure out how to play with him instead of trying to play as they have their entire NT career without a legit center forward by trying to do it themselves.
Which then leads again, to Pepi. He isn’t as clinical or naturally gifted or as groomed as Balogun who grew up with Arsenal. But the guy has made himself probably the 2nd best finisher we have. He just doesn’t miss a bunch of chances.
I’d say with Berhalter, Pepi is a supersub. Berhalter isn’t much for creativity. He isn’t the Sean Payton type of mind that forms a system around his players strengths. He is a system guy and hammering square pegs into round holes type of guy.
We have the talent to play a 3-5-2 to have Balo and Pepi on the field together. But we would need someone else besides GGG.
