If Saints Don't Serve 40-Burgers, We in Trouble...

It was the first game of the season, against a good front 7 where our o-line was getting abused for a large part of the game (though collectively and individually improved after Halftime). We put the game away by doing essentially the complete opposite of last year and aggressively going for the kill shot downfield which with some more offensive chemistry could've well been a TD. This was because our QB asked our OC to give him and the WR a shot and the OC trusted them enough to do it, whilst our HC decided to let the guys getting paid to Coach and produce offense have their chance instead of vetoing it and opting for less risk. Keep in my mind this is all after the same QB took points off the board on a 2 minute drill to end the first half so the staff had plenty of reason to think "Let's not give him a chance to lose this for us by forcing something".

I don't know if you heard Davis post-game speech in the Locker room but he said "We all know it didn't have to be that close". Whilst I'm sure he's one of those people that always thinks they/his Defense could've done better, I don't think he was really talking about the defensive performance there.

None of these things tell me "Our staff and players want to play ball control, defensive minded football." If anything I think they expect the offense to perform much better as things move forward as trust and chemistry develop throughout the season.
