It’s all about winning, but let’s face it: an undefeated team that scores 10 points a week isn’t scaring anyone. At least not the same way a 14-win team is that is dropping 40 every other week, against any highly competent defenses — all while not giving an inch on D, ourselves.
Nobody is dropping 40 every other week. In all of last year, there were only 22 40-point games out of 544 opportunities. Dallas led the way with four, and we saw what happened to them in the playoffs.
Also, during the Brees era, we had 34 40-point games over a fifteen year span, with the most being six in 2018. That's probably about as close to every other week as you'll get, and that was with a HOF QB under center.
