I’m really surprised that they did this after just two games into this season after being thrust into the starter role after Turner went down. I think it’s the right move, but only time will tell.
Granderson’s been listed as the starting RDE since the offseason began. He ran with the first team all offseason in OTAs, minicamp and training camp. Turner rotated in behind him since camp.
He’s been our most consistent DL after Cam. Outplayed Turner and Davenport last season in a rotation. He’s generating pressures as much as top rushers in the league. Saints realized how much Granderson’s improved in the full time starter role since before week 1 and got ahead of his projected pace before he became too costly on the open market. FA DEs are bringing in nearly 20M per year. Fair deal to get him at 13M AAV early. Only injury will stop him from reaching 11+ sacks in the next 15 games and he’s always been healthy.
