People underestimate bears, which I suppose is the gist of the thread.
They can outrun you. Easily. In-line/zig-zag, doesn't matter. You're not outrunning it.
They can climb faster than they can run. So unless you can also climb faster than you can run (spoiler: you can't) then that's strike two.
They can throw them paws faster than your brain can process.
They have the bite strength 3-4x stronger than a pit bull.
Unarmed, you don't have an attack that can phase one. Poke its eye? You just lost that hand. Kick it in the junk? Now it's angry.
So, yeah, just watching one thinking you're safe behind a 3 foot gate is insanity.
