Underhill article on why the Saints O is so bleh

I literally just asked that question to our resident FB Guru and he denied that the scheme wasn't behind the times.

IMHO The offense is still built like an elite QB is at the helm running the show in a league where the elite QB is archaic at the moment. Most of these guys are under 10 years in the league, so offense have adapted w/ schemes that make the reads easier. Were expecting Carr to see the field like Drew and he's not...not even close. The offense needs to make things easier on the QB and not
Our passing concepts are not behind the times, but our strategy for using/implementing them very well may be. I posted above that Carr/PC wants to run the offense like we have Brees or Manning, but other offenses are not doing that anymore.

It seems like that’s one of the big changes, there was a time when QB’s called the plays but then coaches took that over, giving the QB just a few options at the line.

Now QB’s have one backup play for a specific look, but otherwise the coaches more or less have complete control of the play calling. QB’s are executing their progressions like WR’s are executing their routes, precisely and on time.
