DA and PC

Ultimately, this is always the right way to understand it.

The HEAD coach owns it all. His job is to make the tough decisions with regard to all 3 phases, make sure it all meshes.

Payton got a lot of passes for awful defenses and special teams over time because seemed like he was graded on a curve as an "offensive coach." But the job is across all three phases and has elements of admin and personnel management.

DA should be accountable that way too, and he's not meeting the decisions head on at this point. The ship is sinking. Offense is regressing now, on top of what we saw last year. The time is now and if he doesn't have a plan beyond "just keep doing what you are doing" plus some hopium, then he's done. It's over.

GM needs to be stepping in but don't see that either.

Don't forget Payton got A LOT of rope because he took a 3-13 team and won a Super Bowl in his fourth year.
