Per Nick Underhill: Dennis Allen spoke extensively about the red zone issues. Says it’s a combination of play calls, execution and coaching

It doesn’t. Because I’m not the one who has been rationalizing and making excuses for one QB’s failures for months (years?) on here.

I want the Saints to win. I don’t care who’s playing QB. I was so excited when we signed Jeff Blake because it felt like we finally had someone who could win us football games at that position (rather than just hoping not to lose them). I loved watching Aaron Brooks despite the fact he went to UVA and I’m a VT grad. Brees was a revelation. But I was really excited to see Jameis with SP. and it was awesome until he got hurt. And without SP, (and yes, with Pete), Jameis showed similar problems that had plagued him in other spots. The difference is that Carr has a much more successful overall body of work to fall back on.

Whether it’s Hebert, Fourcade, Everett, the traveling circus of Billy Joes, Kerry Collins, Blake, Brooks, Brees, Taysom, Winston, Dalton, Carr or whoever else, I want to see what’s best for the team. PC is clearly awful. But I’ve got more faith that Carr can be successful, regardless of system, than anyone we’ve had at the position since Brees retired. And if not? Hopefully we crash sooner than later and can get someone in the building we can all get behind.
I'm rationalizing but you still can't come to grips with Carr's deficiencies? I harped on Derek Carr in the red zone all offseason and yall took it as me advocating for Winston, when in fact, Derek Carr is really just that bad in the red zone. I want the man to succeed and stated that but dang, every red flag that we are seeing with Carr now was there for 9 seasons of film and if local "mainstream" media actually discussed that instead of the Airline directed sunshine pumping, maybe the conversations could have been more civil and all of us would have realized that bringing Carr in wasn't going to fix any of the issues, no matter what the media and DA was telling us. Our view of Carr is based totally on perception because if people watched the games/films like they said, nothing that we see should be new to us. Being in Sneaky Pete's trash offense just exacerbates it.

I still have us pegged at winning 10 games but outside of hitting our stride or a miracle, don't see a deep playoff run.
