I’m actually well-aligned, once I’m being read to be understood me instead of reading me to argue with me.
I don’t like that DA retained PC in 2022, especially given the “how” of it all with PC not seeming to want the job. Then the QB situation became the unstable mess it was last season. Perhaps the team figured, “hey, let’s stabilize the QB position and try this again.” Now they’ve spent money on DC, figuring he’ll be the undisputed starter. PC & DC got the entire offseason to know each other and figure out a competent system, but that hardly seems to matter - the QB play resembles last year’s QB play. So now last year’s QB1, his now-departed backup, and a new QB1 have all struggled. They’re not aided by the fact that the concepts and designs all look lousy and outdated. So now here we are, six down/eleven up, offense looks like a bus stuck in mud, maybe like 7 posters here are fine with the offense, the rest of us want to see some sort of change at OC/play-caller, on a short week with a quality opponent next to play.
I am of the mindset that changes at OC must happen ASAP to hopefully salvage this season and get into the tournament. Win the division, guarantee a home game, let the rest of the chips fall where they may. I think the short week has the team behind an 8-ball, unfortunately, and no change is likely to be made this week, so we’re gonna have to watch this product at least one more time. In-house, to salvage this season, some combination of Kodi Burns, Ronald Curry, and Doug Marrone would probably be the move to make in terms of strategy/design, implementation/opening script, and in-game adjustment. See how that goes. If taking the headset from PC is all it takes to save the season, wonderful, fire PC, promote one of them, and keep it rolling. If it falls flat, find a young, hungry innovator from the college ranks, let him assemble a staff, start fresh in ‘24. If the defense crumbles amidst all this, clean house.
I don’t think there’s anything to argue with here, but I’ve been wrong before.
