I guess I need to stop eating red meat.

The true culprit of diabetes has been found. At least according to this study.

I had switched to eating mostly red meat and eggs 2 years ago and saw numerous health benefits, including lower A1C, lower triglycerides, cessation of GERD and GI issues and 60lbs of weight loss. But I guess it was all for nothing.
Color me skeptical. They need to have a more ethnically appropriate participant base from which to cull findings in order to be more accurate. Whites are statistically one of the lowest percentage ethnic groups diagnosed with diabetes type 2. I don't think it's going to reflect the actual real life numbers so I take it with a grain of salt. Just my 2 cents FWIW. By the way, I am Filipino and everyone in my family has diabetes type 2, except for my mom.

Per the article:

"Participants, most of whom were White, were age 46 on average at the beginning of the NHS, 36 when NHS II began, and 53 when the HPFS was initiated. All were followed up with through no later than 2017."

According to the diabetes.org site:

"The rates of diagnosed diabetes in adults by race/ethnic background are:

14.5% of American Indians/Alaskan Natives
12.1% of non-Hispanic blacks
11.8% of Hispanics
9.5% of Asian Americans
7.4% of non-Hispanic whites"
