Chase Daniel's Analysis on the Saints Offense
Good stuff by Chase... Saw a lot of what he saw from my end zone terrace seat... It's not all Car, though he has missed some things... It's not all the WRs/RBs missing assignments or not giving effort, though they have.... It's not all horrid play calls by Pete, though he's had his share... and this week the Line was good enough, though not great.... I still think what I thought before... no accountability by the coaching staff, no consistency by the players, and the play calls in critical situations (RZ and 3rd down) are counter intuitive to what the teams' strengths are. All of which makes for a ~.500 offensive team.
I'd still like to see a different play caller soon... Many of these plays are predictable... I read today that JAX defenders said they were playing a ton of Cover 2 because they knew the Saints would checkdown, checkdown, checkdown in that situation. I want the calls to be centered around the player (matchup) and not the play itself... Simplify - Heavy run - Heavy motion - 3 reads tops with all of them being to matchup our best players with advantages... and much more misdirection to create space.
