Slippery slope.

That soundbite, while true in most cases, should be what civilized societies work tirelessly to limit.

To act as if human lives are 'just necessary collateral' during one event but not another is dangerous.
Wars/armed conflicts are bad because people suffer and people get killed during them. If you count NIACs and international armed conflicts in the world today, 10/27/23, the number is over 100 unfortunately. In almost all of them innocent children, the elderly, just regular folks are suffering tragic consequences. These conflicts rarely end by means other than unconditional surrender. Otherwise, they typically never end. So to end a war, how does one side cause the other side to surrender? Usually and tragically and unfortunately, it’s by causing tremendous loss, pain, and death. I wish the world was a better place, it should be a better place, but it’s never been a better place.
