Slippery slope.

That soundbite, while true in most cases, should be what civilized societies work tirelessly to limit.

To act as if human lives are 'just necessary collateral' during one event but not another is dangerous.
I don't really trust the IDF much, but I do think most Israelis would agree that limiting civilian casualties should be high on the list of considerations for the IDF. Whether that's actually true or not, I honestly don't know.
