The Thing People Don't Say Taysom Hill

No dount about it, Taysom is one of a kind. You have to go back decades to find someone that's even a valid comparison. That's amazing to me.

"Slinging Sammy Baugh" may be the closest comparison. Baugh played in an era (8 decades / 80+ years ago) when the football was more rounded in shape, not necessarily designed to be thrown; He did it anyway. He lead the league in so many different ways, for so many different years at different positions, it's almost unfathomable. He was the original "Swiss Army Knife ". He not only played QB, he also played Cornerback and he was the Punter. One season He lead the league in all 3, Passing, Punting, and Interceptions. His Single Season Punting Yards Average of 51.4 in 1940 stood as an NFL Record For 82 Years, until last year in 2022 when it was broken by Tennessee Titans Rookie Punter Ryan Stonehouse, who set the new record by averaging 53.1 yards per attempt.

Frank Gifford
was also gifted to Excell in different ways. He made the Pro Bowl at 3 different positions, Running Back, Defensive Back, and Flanker (Receiver). His best season was in 1956 (Over 6 decades ago / 66 years ago) when he was named league MVP. Frank Gifford and Taysom Hill are the Only 2 Players in NFL History To Have Scored At Least 9 Touchdowns by way of Rushing, Receiving, and Passing.

Baugh and Gifford lead the league in several different categories in several different seasons, we're named League MVP, and both were inducted into the NFL Hall Of Fame.

Taysom Hill will not accomplish any of that, however, it can be argued that he has excelled in even more different positions than both Baugh and Gifford, just not to the extent of their Greatness.
