Daylight Saving Time possibly permanent 11/2023

But that’s where you live. And you didn’t read what I typed. I never said anything about that being the reason for switching twice a year. I said it’s what I remember as being the reason the choice would be to stay on daylight savings time permanently vs standard time. Meaning if the decision was made to ditch changing the clock twice a year, the argument would be to stop it while in daylight savings time, for the school safety reasons I mentioned.
It was tried before and failed in 1974. I vaguely remember it. My Middle school was on shifts that year
while a new school was being built due to population increase. I was on the afternoon shift which ran
from noon until 5 pm. DST didn't affect my mornings at all. That wasn't the case in other areas of the country.
Florida experienced an increase in fatal accidents involving school children which prompted the Governor
to order all clocks to be moved back one hr. His order was overruled ,but the majority of Americans had grown
tired of the permanent DST. The country returned to changing the clock just 10 months after DST was
declared permanent by congress.
