A lot of you are dragging that decision b/c of the person who made it and not based upon the personnel on the field. DA trusted his “elite D“ would hold up on a 3&12. He also likely was aware that his opponent had nothing to lose and would probably go for a 4&2, since the Bears QB had been running everywhere. Plus our defense had given up 4th downs in different games this year.
DA had faith in his defensive unit just like Sean used to have faith in his offensive unit to convert on 4&shorts. Don’t forget that our defense did actually keep the Bears from converting on a 3&12 a few series later. It resulted in a missed field goal. DA made the right call. The players didn’t execute the call right.
