A microcosm of Winston’s career
2 1/2 quarters leading to 3 points by the starter and it's friggin crickets from the usual suspects.
I said my piece in about page 2 but I’ll respond to this. The Offense had about 20-22 meaningful snaps in the first half, the defence was out there double the time allowing the Vikings to control the flow of the game and posess the ball for long periods. This is where you hear that a defence needs to help out the offence just like the offence needs to help out the defence. I think the O ran about 6 plans in the first quarter.
In the second half, adjustments worked and Dobbs came back down to earth, the O had a lot more possessions and chances and that helped them big time. In fact we got back to a one score game and had the ball on possessions twice at mid field with 6 or so remaining in the 4th.
I think one, people look at a 4 quarter game and criticize the end result. And two, we could have and based on possessions in second half, should have won that game.
Any time you have those opportunities at the end of the game, and on something like a 3rd and 3 with open check downs, and throw an interception, it’s going to be criticized. And it should be.
The last int was horrible too.
Notice how I haven’t said a QB name in this post.
The defence cost us that game let’s be honest with ourselves, shouldn’t have been put in a position to pull off that big of a come back, but the interceptions at the end were unnecessary and ruined a great effort in the second half of what I felt should have been a game we found a way to win. It was there but we lacked the poise to make the biggest plays at the biggest time at the end.
No disputing that.
