I think it’s that your taste is very, very idiosyncratic
I’m struggling for a way to explain that isn’t snobby - I mean zero slights when I say that you adore some things that would largely be considered pulp or pop or some such, but you respond to them like they’re high art
Which I think is wonderful. Like experiencing a Norman Rockwell or Amstel Adams like a Picasso

I once made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that was actually perfect- have no idea what weird alchemy was in play but when I bit into that sandwich, it was one of the best things I ever tasted
Sometimes your takes on threes company sound like ‘the best pb&j ever’

otoh, those things that aren’t in the spectrum of your taste you just have no time for - like your options seem to be GREAT or banal - not much wiggle room between the two
