Who will be our next Head Coach?

This gets repeated way too often here and it couldn’t be further from the truth. There are only 32 of these jobs, and most young coaches are thrilled at the prospect of ANY HC offer they land, especially when you factor in the life-changing money involved.

Now, if it’s a situation where the guy has more than one firm offer to choose from, which is more rare than many realize, then sure he may look at all of those factors. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to can they land an offer, and if so, is the money right.

I agree with this, I also don't think the situation is quite as bleak going forward as others do. We have talent either in or entering their primes over the next few seasons, sure some of that talent has seemed to regress this year but a new staff could change that. Unfortuantely some fan favorites, particularly on defense like Cam and DD might be on their last legs which is disappointing but that's the nature of the sport (life in general really). On offense we have two very good young receivers in Olave and Shaheed. I think Thomas contract means he's back next year barring a trade or retirement. Kamara might want out, but in this scenario where we change Coaching staffs I don't think it's a foregone conclusion either. We don't really know what we have with Miller but he looked like a good back in college. We are married to Carr next year in terms of money but again a new coaching staff can either look at it as "we'll see what he has" or start looking for his guy via the draft if we pick high enough or he likes someone in the later rounds. That coach certainly won't be married to Carr like DA is to stick with him at all costs.

I didn't vote in the poll because I don't know enough about all the candidates to say. I will say that I don't really want Jon Gruden, mainly because I'd prefer a younger coach who could potentially be here for the next 10+ years if it works out rather than someone that seemingly has a built in expiration date. The only real reason to look at Gruden is if the FO is really that high on Carr, and the way this season has gone I just don't know how anyone could be. Sure we gotta pay him next year regardless but it doesn't mean we have to base staff hiring decisions on the guy.
