It’ll probably just be Maye’s last year as a starter. We have the safety depth to move on but it’d make more sense cap wise to let him play out his final contract year as reliable depth.
We want to avoid piling up high dead cap. Maye would be a post-June 1 cut, probably during preseason cuts if he’s released.
His dead cap is 8.5M before June 1 vs. 2.4M post June 1. 8.5M dead cap is deducted from available cap space if he’s released before June.
A March restructure for cap room eliminates the possibility altogether.
