Richard Todd anyone? 1984?

I remember when we were talking about signing Carr, trading for Carr...what our team would look like with Carr and this defense...how all the naysayers said Carr can't win this or that....and we would counter that Carr had never had a top 20 defense ever. I would go to youtube and listen to the guy at the podium or at his church and thought "man, this dude could be the next great FA signing and all these haters will be proven wrong."

I still want to be right about that initial belief...but I have resigned myself to the idea that maybe I was the one with the rose colored glasses.
I hear ya. One thing I was considering is that our D would continue to improve and thus only allow on average less than 20 points per game. Had we been able to lock down teams, we’d only need an average but consistent offense to win games. And the O would improve each week. So by the end of the season, we’d be winning game 28-6 or so. But that wasn’t the case, the D ended up relying on the sputtering offense to control the games. And that’s why we‘re still talking about the O not getting it done, when we should be talking about how terrible the D has been.
