DE failures: will Granderson and Baun teach FO a lesson?

Turner has not been healthy only playing 14 games in three seasons if he does not come back at the end of this year. He has 3 total sacks and 29 tackles. We took Turner at 28 overall over Greg Rosseau who went 30th to the Bills who was universally ranked higher. People had Turner as maybe a 2nd round but more like a third on all the national spots when we took Turner. Rosseau over the same span played in 42 games with 16.5 total sacks and 119 combined tackles.

We took Peter Werner in the second round at 60. As far as who else was on the board who went in round 2. There is not a whole lot of great players taken outside the top 15. I think we wanted Zaven Collins at LB who went to the Cardinals at 16th if he would have fallen and probably tired to trade up and failed to get Jaycee Horn at CB who went 8th to the Panthers. We did much better getting Paulson Adebo in the third round at 76.

The Penning pick just feels like a complete whiff on a small school project who was over rated based on metrics and overlooked slow feet. I think the glaring wish is that we could have somehow not had to make the Eagles trade and just traded other picks to move up to get Olave. Charles Cross would have been the best tackle to get who went 9th overall. Evan Neal who went 7th has not looked good for the Giants. I feel like the Penning pick is a lesson of forcing a position after the free agent loss of Armstead.
