Olave is running an option route on that play, he correctly sits down with defenders on either side of him. Defenses will bracket that route in single high as they did here, but that opens up the deep route in a 1v1 matchup.
We should know that, Carr scored a TD against us a few years ago with the same concept when the option route was bracketed. We aren’t running plays that Carr hasn’t run in the past, he just refuses to run them now.
